Like many great love stories, ours began with art and adventure. We met in Chicago in 2009, building sets at a theater company—Shamba, a city native, and Samantha, a small-town gal with mountains in her soul. Life has a way of writing better stories than we could imagine: our cross-country adventure turned into destiny when our truck broke down in Boone, North Carolina. Sometimes, breakdowns lead to breakthroughs.
The mountains claimed us that day. The natural beauty, the authentic community, and the rhythm of mountain living spoke to something deep in our hearts. We knew we'd found home.

After raising our children here and falling deeper in love with these mountains each year, we dreamed of creating something special—a place where other couples could experience the magic we feel here every day. That dream led us to this extraordinary piece of land in Todd, NC, a place we once called home in our early mountain days.
When we first discovered these 6 acres, others saw impossible terrain. We saw possibility. Through the steep, rocky landscape, we heard the creek calling. As we bushwhacked our way to discover cascading falls and secret swimming holes, we knew: this was the place where dreams would come true—not just ours, but yours.

The Kiss Cabin is inspired by Gustav Klimt's masterpiece—a painting that captures what we believe about love: that it's both grounding and transcendent, both intimate and grand. This cabin represents our dream made real. Every nail, every board, every thoughtful touch has been crafted by our own hands over two years of blood, sweat, and yes, quite a few tears.
